TheTop 3 LBI Fall Weekends

Just because the summer season has set doesn't mean the fun on LBI comes to an end. In fact, the fun is just getting started  and it just happens to be one of the best times to flap around town. The crowds thin out, the sunsets get richer, and the island takes on this cozy feeling that is truly magical.

Take it from me, Shelly the LBI Seagull, there are still plenty of great beach days to be had in September, with less crowds, less traffic and many of the stores and restaurants are still in full swing.  But, just wait until October and the island kicks into high gear, filled with beachy fall fun!  Here are three epic weekends you don’t want to miss on LBI!

OCTOBER 4 - 5

The Beach Haven Chowder Cook-Off is one of the tastiest traditions on the island! Local restaurants serve up steaming bowls of creamy New England and zesty Manhattan chowder. The air fills with the smell of clams, spices, and excitement as crowds sample, sip, and cast their votes. Beyond the chowda, there’s live music, local vendors, and a real sense of community that warms you up as much as the soup. It’s not just a competition — it’s a celebration of flavor, fall, and island pride

LBI Sea Glass & Art Festival is a sparkling showcase of creativity and coastal heritage. Who doesn’t love and admire seaglass, and this festival brings collectors and artists to gather to celebrate sea glass with handcrafted jewelry, artwork, and home decor. The festival offers more than shopping; it’s a chance to learn about the history of sea glass, meet talented local makers, and find one-of-a-kind keepsakes. It’s a true celebration of LBI’s coastal charm.

OCTOBER 11-12

Seagulls aren’t the only ones that fill the LBI skies.  The LBI International Kit Festival brings creativity, and pure joy to behold.. From giant whales and dragons to dazzling stunt kites, the beach becomes a stage for magical kites to fill the  air. Whether you’re flying your own kite or just soaking up the views. The sea breeze, the sound of the surf, and the rainbow of kites overhead make it one of the most magical ways to spend a  weekend.

Jetty Rock Foundation’s Shellebration is celebrating all things oysters and their role in clean water and keeping our coastal ecosystem healthy, this event is serving up tons of fun with lots of food, a raw bar, craft beers, bloody mary’s, live music and exciting kids activities that is sure to be fun for all ages.

OCTOBER 25

Get into the fall spirit at Bayview Park’s Harvest Hayride. An annual tradition of fun featuring hayrides to the beach, pumpkin picking, crafts, live music, face painting and more!

There are only a few times a year that you are able to climb Old Barney at night, so you won’t want to miss out on the last Evening Lighthouse Climb of the season!  And to add fall fun the lighthouse climb will feature a campfire and a storyteller!

And if you are looking for some fun LBI stories check out my fun children’s book that brings all of the LBI fun to life!
